Melaka in the Rain

i took a day trip to melaka with my mom and my aunt yesterday, there aren't many many photographs, so i will upload these before the crab pics, which are many many and not terribly good.

'twas a rainy day, but heck, after two hours on the bus i had to grab some pics before we set off back home, aunt to lionland and us to superman (i realize his kryptonian name is kal-el). but enough of the nerdiness. oh, and the lameness.

so here's a bit of Melaka on a rainy day...i was balancing femme with my right hand, my camera bag over my shoulder, and an umbrella occasionally in my left hand, between my arm and my chest or in the hands of either one of my two sympathetic companions.

we ate at a cafe. which is not that good, cos, i mean...melaka and you eat cafe food? but it was fun photographing it.

manual

alright. so manual was a disaster...here are some shots i took under shadowy conditions (i mean the lighting wasn't too bright)

all taken at with a 35-80mm lens with a hoya 52mm +4 close-up diopter unprocessed. mainly on autofocus. but it's terrible.

it's rather a mess @@ i should be more systematic next time. anyway, i suppose easily i can understand that the faster the shutter speed, the darker the photo (umm, logic nia) , the lower the iso, the darker the photo but less noise (so perhaps this can be compensated with slower shutter speed) and how on earth do people get greater apertures? my camera seems to get stuck at around f/4.0 and f/quite-a-high-number perhaps if i use a macro lens i can get smaller dof and thus bigger aperture (i'm confusing myself).

yes. next time i will systematically and scientifically test out this camera on manual mode. this session was quite useless.

still, that jasmine flower smelled heavenly.
